Text Tools

Count, convert and generate text right in your browser.

Whether you are writing an essay, a social media post or product copy, small text tasks add up. These free text tools count, clean, convert and transform your writing instantly, with no sign-up and nothing to install.

What you can do here

  • Counting: characters, words, sentences and word frequency, useful for posts, meta descriptions and essays with length limits.
  • Formatting and cleanup: change letter case, remove extra spaces and line breaks, and find and replace text.
  • Readability: estimate how easy a passage is to read and spot overly long sentences.
  • Generators: placeholder lorem ipsum text, fancy Unicode text styles, and reversed or upside-down text.
  • Translators and converters: Morse code, the NATO phonetic alphabet and numbers written out as words.
  • Word play: anagram and palindrome checkers.

How to get the best results

  1. Paste plain text when you can. Copying from a word processor sometimes brings hidden characters, such as non-breaking spaces, that affect counts.
  2. Know how a platform counts. Some count an emoji or certain symbols as more than one character, so leave a little headroom below a strict limit.
  3. Run the text cleaner before counting or comparing, so stray spaces and blank lines do not skew the results.
  4. Treat readability scores as a guide. They measure sentence and word length, not the clarity of your ideas, so read the text aloud as a final check.
  5. Fancy Unicode text looks styled, but screen readers and search engines may not read it correctly, so avoid it for important information.

Common uses

Writers use the counters to fit a title, a meta description or an application answer within its limit. Students check essay length and spot words they repeat too often. Marketers convert headlines to title case and tidy up text pasted from spreadsheets or PDFs. Designers drop in lorem ipsum to test a layout before the real copy is ready. Each tool works on whatever you paste, from a single line to several pages.

Your text stays on your device

All text tools run entirely in your browser. What you paste is not uploaded to our servers or saved, which makes them safe for drafts, private notes and unpublished work. Closing the tab clears everything.

Frequently asked questions

Why do different tools give different word counts?

Tools disagree on what counts as a word. Hyphenated terms, numbers, contractions, web addresses and words joined by slashes can count as one word or several. The differences are usually small, but they matter near a strict limit. If you must hit an exact count, use the tool your publisher or teacher specifies, or leave a small margin.

Does a character count include spaces?

It depends on the requirement. Social platforms and most form fields count every character, including spaces and line breaks. Some publishing and translation work counts characters without spaces. Our counter shows both figures, so you can use the one that matches your limit. Emoji and some symbols may count as two characters on certain platforms.

Is lorem ipsum real Latin?

It comes from a classical Latin text, but the standard placeholder version is scrambled and altered, so it does not form meaningful sentences. That is the point: readers focus on layout and typography instead of the words. Replace it with real copy before publishing, because placeholder text left on a live page looks unfinished and gives search engines nothing useful to index.
