No city matches your search.
The page shows the current time in 20 of the most-searched cities around the world, ordered from west to east. The first card, Your time, uses the time zone your device is set to, so every other city can be compared with it.
tokyo or germany, to narrow the list. Accents are ignored, so sao finds São Paulo.Every card also shows the local date, the city's offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) and the difference from your own time, such as +8 h or −3 h 30 min. When a city is already in tomorrow or still in yesterday compared with you, the date says so. Analog faces turn dark between 6 PM and 6 AM local time, so you can tell at a glance where it is night.
The clocks use the time zone rules built into your browser, which follow the IANA time zone database used by operating systems worldwide. Nothing is downloaded from a time service and nothing about you is sent anywhere. The time comes from your device clock, so if your computer or phone is set to the wrong time, every clock on the page will be off by the same amount.
Daylight saving time is applied automatically. New York, for example, is at UTC−5 in winter and UTC−4 in summer, while Sydney does the opposite because its summer falls in the northern winter. Cities without daylight saving, such as Tokyo, Dubai, Mumbai and Singapore, keep the same offset all year.
Suppose a video call starts at 9:00 AM in New York on a January morning. New York is then on UTC−5, so the call starts at 14:00 UTC. At that moment it is:
UTC+5:30.The Your time card uses the time zone your device is set to. If your computer or phone is set to a nearby city in the same zone, or to a zone you used while travelling, that name appears instead. Change the time zone in your device settings and reload the page.
Yes. Each city's offset comes from the time zone rules in your browser, which include daylight saving changes, so the clocks switch automatically on the right dates for each country.
They are as accurate as your device clock. Most phones and computers synchronize with an internet time server, so they are usually correct to within a second. The page does not contact a time server itself.
The list is fixed to 20 widely used cities across every continent. Many other places share a time zone with one of them; for example, Washington, D.C. and Miami use New York time, and Amsterdam, Madrid and Rome use the same time as Paris and Berlin.
UTC, Coordinated Universal Time, is the reference time that all time zones are defined against. London is at UTC in winter. A city at UTC+9, such as Tokyo, is nine hours ahead of it, and one at UTC−5 is five hours behind.
